Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about counselling with Lucy

How do I book a first session?
Get in touch by email at lucy@lucycreancounselling.co.uk or call 07947 862832. I offer a free 30-minute introductory call so we can discuss what has brought you to counselling and whether we are a good fit to work together.
How much do sessions cost?
Sessions are on a sliding scale of £55–£65 based on what you can afford. An initial introductory session is £20. I believe counselling should be accessible to everyone.
How long is a session?
Each session lasts 50 minutes.
Where do you work?
I work from two locations in Hove — The Wilbury Clinic at 109 Church Road and Hove Therapy Rooms. I also offer online sessions.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies for each person. Some people benefit from short term work of six to twelve sessions, others prefer longer term therapy. We will discuss this together and review regularly.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes. Everything discussed in our sessions is confidential. The only exceptions are if I have serious concerns about your safety or the safety of others, in line with BACP ethical guidelines.
What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?
The terms are often used interchangeably. I am trained as a psychotherapeutic counsellor which draws on both traditions. In practice the approach is tailored to what works best for you.
